In case you’ve lived under a rock your whole 20’s, here is some options to your 30’s or if you want a head start. I have kept myself sheltered from new and exciting things in life. Now, that I’m almost 35 years old; I’m more confident in myself than ever before. I like to think it’s because I started opening up to new things. I tried sushi. I’ve had a verity of Asian foods, not just my normal order of sweet and sour chicken. I was even confident in my body. With that said, I started watching shows I’ve never had interest in seeing. Not all thirty year olds are the same. Some really like The Walking Dead, Parks And Rec, The Office, all the vampire werewolf shows. We all have our guilty pleasures. Superhero shows are taking off like wildfire. And while they are all trendy and full of CGI; it’s just not that down to earth. We need to grow. We need that one show to just sit with a pint of ice cream and watch.

Friends. Now I’ve seen Friends since it came out. But that doesn’t mean it’s not a top ten tv show for your 30s. A group of friends, even toxic ones, hang around and grow with every issue. Woke culture has forgotten the fun and diverse we had in the 90s. Friends tackled so many social issues. From divorce to gay weddings, accidental pregnancy to adoption and surrogacy. Friends is definitely a must watch. By the way; Where’s Ben?

Nip/Tuck. A for sure no kids allowed, Nip/Tuck goes deep into Body Dysmorphic Disorder and beyond. Early on in the series you meat Sofia, a trans woman in need of work done. But as the series goes deeper into plastic surgery, it also meets a lot of mid-life crises’. Rather it be a troubled teen or a single man trying on all the plastics to boost his ego. Don’t let the first half of the season get you down. There is so much character development. Tackling soap opera like plots will definitely make you feel better about yourself. However, it just may get you wanting to change yourself. Be cautious.

Sex in The City. It shouldn’t matter if you’re a woman of different backgrounds. This is such a game changer. It first aired when I was 12 years old. Don’t worry, I didn’t watch it then. The daily lives of a New York City writer, lawyer, art dealer, and a PR agent. You will learn that you are NOT alone! Rather being a housewife such as myself or have a full-time career; you can learn so much through their faults and achievements. Are you a Carrie or Samantha? Gay, straight, trans; it’s all there! Must must watch. *Not and ad for HBO MAX.

How To Get Away With Murder. Screw the teen crap. This show means business. Thought provoking story lines. You will have all the ups and downs with Annalise. Follow college kids and murder. Solve the crimes as they do, while you sit back in awe with ice cream and wine. Keeping this short as I don’t want to spoil everything. Just go watch. You murder mystery folks will thank me later.

Rosanne and The Conners. These two shows tackle EVERY ISSUE EVER. Seriously. From the working class of America, they have it all. Even without Rosanne in The Conners, it’s still everything we remember from before. It’s not just a comedy. You will laugh, cry, and everything in between. It’s so unbiased as today’s views are so divided. The acting is superb.

The Ranch. In a world of what color is your state, The Ranch opens up a whole new world; the cattle ranch world. Dealing with rural America is an eye opener. Personally I live in a rural area. We don’t really get much of the racism and violence. It’s nice to see that illustrated unlike the mainstream media. Albeit fictional, still has a lot of ongoing issues, immigration being one. Ashton Kutcher just shows he has scale. I would love to see him in more drama.

There are a lot of other options like; Grey’s Anatomy, House of Cards, Scandal, ER, Breaking Bad, Law and Order, and many more. These options worked for me and might not work for you. But that’s the beauty of television, there’s always something for you. A good story line can either be an escape or relate. Be bold. Try new things. I don’t recommend sushi.
